Clark County reaches 200 COVID cases

The Clark County Health Department reported only one new COVID-19 case Friday, but that brought the number of positive tests for the virus in the county so far this year to 200.

That number is relatively low compared to many counties in the state.

One more individual met the criteria for recovery Friday.

So far seven people in the county have died of the illness.

The Health Department is now working 27 active cases of the often deadly respiratory illness. Of those, two are Fountain Circle residents, two are employees of that nursing home, and 23 are community members.

Public Health Director Becky Kissick said Friday that five of the 14 positive tests Thursday were associated with an outbreak at a church camp in Marysville, Ohio, that was attended by people from Clark County and subsequent services at Pilgrim Holiness Church in Winchester.

In his daily TV broadcast Friday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced 797 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing the total number to 25,931. He also announced seven more deaths, bringing that total to 691.
